The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River (MDLSR) has an excellent opportunity for an HR Advisor. This position will report directly to the Director, Organizational Effectiveness, and will be based out of the Administration office in Slave Lake, Alberta. This is a permanent part-time position consisting of three (3) days per week with opportunity of increased hours based on seasonal demands and/or project initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing human resources guidance and technical support to employees and managers in a broad variety of HR areas. The HR Advisor will assist the Director, Organizational Effectiveness, to enhance organizational performance by ensuring the alignment of human resources practices and processes aligned with the MDLSR objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Group benefits administration including group insurance, retirements, leaves, return to work process and disability management.
- Full cycle recruitment process including job postings, sourcing and screening resumes, conducting telephone screens, interviewing when requested, checking references.
- Support seasonal recruitment including career fairs or campus recruiting events.
- Administration of WCB claims in collaboration with the H&S Administrator.
- Support talent development initiatives for employees and leaders.
- Provide recommendations to enhance and streamline HR processes and procedures.
- Assist in special projects supporting HR priorities and business initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of HR generalist experience is required.
- Degree or diploma with a preference in Human Resources; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) would be an asset.
- Working level understanding of policies and procedures, Alberta Employment Standards, Alberta Human Rights and other applicable legislation.
- Effective verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license.
