Human Resource Advisor
Permanent, Full-Time – 35 hours per week

We are currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Human Resource Advisor for our Human Resources department.
About this Opportunity:
The Human Resource Advisor reports directly to the Manager, Human Resources, Employee, and Labour Relations. This position works collaboratively with business units and key stakeholders to ensure the City of Leduc’s values, goals, and principles are implemented and integrated into the delivery of human resource services. This position will engage in business conversations, influence, and equip people leaders to lead their teams, and foster a highly engaged, inspiring, and inclusive workplace. The HR Advisor works with a high degree of independence to plan and implement HR processes in line with policies, legislation, and collective agreements; and will engage Human Resources “specialists” within the broader HR team where required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in and project manage annual programs for different departments including performance management, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Review job descriptions, perform job audits, guide supervisors on the completion of job evaluation forms, and make recommendations to departments as to where organizational efficiencies can be achieved.
- Assist with evaluating internal process design of select HR practices and recommend enhancements, system requirements, and opportunities to create efficiencies through knowledge of the best practice.
- Provides consultation and advice on a full range of HR and program management issues including work performance, conflict management and resolution, compensation, and organizational issues.
- Assess and resolve complex employee relation issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations; develop and implement recommendations, and follow through on decided actions
- Work collaboratively with the HR management team in identifying trends and metrics appropriate for developing policies, and procedures and achieving operational objectives.
- Work with the broader HR team as required for specialized assistance; and liaise with the Talent Acquisition team to stay abreast of the recruitment status of active requirements and future talent needs; including being HR lead on competitions as required.
Requirements:
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
- CPHR Designation or actively working towards completing the designation
- 5 years or more of solid generalist human resources experience
- Broad knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational design, employee and labour relations, recruitment and selection, and performance management.
- Knowledge, interpretation, and application of all applicable Human Resource legislation, policies, processes, and practices. I.e., Employment Standards Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Human Rights Legislation
- Ability to support client goals while adhering to HR policies and corporate consistency.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage situations with potential legal implications.
- Proficiency using programs of the MS Office Suite, HRIS systems, and applicant tracking systems.
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory and legislative requirements, and information affecting the client’s environment
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
