- Post-secondary education in horticulture, arboriculture, landscaping or a related discipline.
- 2 years or more experience in a horticultural role. Supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Landscape Pesticide Applicator certification or Authorized Assistant certification (or the ability to obtain).
- Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
- Standard First Aid certificate or the ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Defensive Driving certificate or the ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Ability to conduct strenuous work for extended time periods and perform medium lifting of 25 kilograms.
- Ability to wear a half mask with organic carbon filters when handling herbicides, and completion of a Respiratory User Screening Form as per the CSA Z94.4-11.
- Experience in cargo securement, hooking up trailers and towing is considered an asset.
- Experience driving a pickup on gravel roads is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with the Alberta Township Survey (ATS) System and rural addressing systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices.
- Mechanical knowledge and aptitude to repair and maintain small engines and other implements.
Hours of Work:
April 12 – May 14, 2021, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
May 17 – October 1, 2021, Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (These hours may be subject to change).
