Key Responsibilities Include:
Key Duties will include:
1. Assess, evaluate, and implement safety program processes and initiatives to identify potential hazards and controls
2. Maintain documentation to ensure compliance with legislation and Special Areas Board policies
3. Participate in development and modification of safety policy, procedure, and manuals to align with changing practices and regulatory requirements
4. Assist management and supervisors in the investigation of reported incidents and participate in developing corrective actions
5. Develop and deliver safety training programs to managers, supervisors, and employees
6. Participate in Joint Worksite Health and Safety Committee
Requirements:
• Grade 12 (or an equivalent GED); combined with 2-5 years related health and safety experience (combination of education and experience may be considered)
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
• Ability to work independently, possessing strong analytical and organizational skills
• Highly developed written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and use good judgement
• Intermediate to advanced Computer Skills – Excel and Word (MS Suite)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association (AMSHA) MHSA Peer Auditor Certification
• AMSHA - Municipal Health and Safety Advisor
• Practical Working Knowledge of Road Construction and Heavy Equipment Operation
• ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on all newly hired employees
• The ability to travel and work out of the office is essential
• Overtime work may be expected as a part of this role.
