Clearwater County is looking for applicants with experience in maintaining roads, the position oversees planning and delivery of gravel road maintenance of all County roads, while working within operating budget and priorities.
This full-time position offers group health and dental benefits and participation in our pension program. Work schedule is Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), must have the ability to be on-call and work overtime as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
We require a ‘boots-on-the-ground’ working level Supervisor to regularly inspect and assess road conditions, to respond to road issues and concerns from ratepayers, update co-Supervisors and Director on status of projects, oversee, assign and direct the work of grader operators (including contractors). This position ensures that staff and contractors understand and meet health and safety requirements and possess experience needed to meet and maintain gravel roads maintenance.
Minimum Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
5+ years supervisory experience in road construction and maintenance.
Previous experience operating a grader.
Able to interpret engineer drawings.
Computer literacy in using Microsoft applications (word, excel, etc.).
Previous experience hiring contractors.
Familiarity with requirements of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
Public Works Supervisor certification (asset).
Minimum Class 5 Drivers License; Class 3 (asset).
Current safety tickets in Ground Disturbance, First Aid/CPR.
Able to communicate effectively with the public.
The successful candidate will need to provide a Drivers’ Abstract.
Start Rate: $46.45/hour.
