We are currently recruiting a permanent, full-time GIS Analyst for our Enterprise Systems and Analytics department.
About this Opportunity:
The GIS Analyst reports to the Manager of Enterprise Systems and Analytics. This position is responsible for supporting GIS applications, assisting in various projects, optimizing, and automating processes, and performing spatial/traditional data analysis, in conjunction with maintaining the corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial data repositories. The GIS Analyst also provides several GIS solutions to support business operations throughout the organization as well as with external stakeholders including the collection and analysis of data, and mapping solutions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Generate and maintain online web mapping services and applications
- Develop automation for reoccurring processes using a variety of application programming strategies, including FME, Python, and other database tools or functions
- Collaborate with organizational business units to understand priorities and needs to establish expectations and deadlines
- Develop and deploy appropriate mapping solutions for internal and external clients, including administration business process maps, event maps, and other mapping solutions as needed
- Provide technical and specialized solutions for internal clients, including designing graphics, modifying, or marking up documents, plotting posters, and field surveying
- Optimize GIS databases and datasets by creating or modifying data schemas, and data relationships and implementing data model design best practices including attention to ongoing future data maintenance
Requirements:
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
- A related bachelor's degree with two years of relative experience or a related two-year diploma with five years of relative experience
- Two (2) years of GIS experience in a municipal setting
- Experience in maintaining existing and implementing new corporate GIS and spatial data repositories
- Experience in supporting existing and developing new GIS applications and geoprocessing development using Python
- Must have extensive knowledge of ESRI software including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online and the ArcGIS Field Maps suite
- Knowledge of Python and SQL languages
- Knowledge of Safe FME, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with GPS capture practices and Trimble products
- Experience with cartography for both digital and paper mediums, as well as best practices in terms of data management, data translation, relations database principles, cartographic techniques, and coordinate systems
- Must live within the capital region
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
