The Town of Stony Plain is currently seeking an ambitious leader for the position of General Manager, Planning and Infrastructure. The General Manager will provide high level strategic and operational oversight for the functional areas of Planning and Development, Engineering, Infrastructure Assets and Parks and Leisure Services. This position is accountable for operating and capital budgets, managing risk, maintaining service delivery, improving organizational effectiveness, and executing major projects. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team the General Manager will promote organizational cohesion, develop a culture of continuous improvement and support adherence to organizational values.

You will be able motivate, mentor, support, and influence a diverse team of staff to create a high-performance work environment. Your interpersonal and communication skills enable you to build trusted relationships at all levels throughout the organization.
The General Manager plays a key role in making recommendations to Council and implementing Council decisions in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team. In this role you will be responsible to provide direction and oversight in strategy development, corporate planning, and budget monitoring for all business units within Planning and Infrastructure department. This position participates in the development and evaluation of Town business decisions, bylaws, policies and procedures from a Planning and Infrastructure perspective.
Post-Secondary degree in one of the following areas: Planning, Engineering, Political Studies, Commerce and/or Business Administration
Extensive Management and/or leadership training
Enrollment or completion of the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration Program (desired)
Knowledge and Experience:
A minimum of eight to ten years direct experience at a senior management level in a municipal or similar setting; with focus in one or more of the functional areas
Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, applying diplomacy to deal tactfully in an open and political environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with appropriate public and private agencies and organizations involved with the Town of Stony Plain
Proven knowledge of Municipal Leadership and Municipal Operations
Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach/mentor organizational staff
Excellent communication skills; interpersonal, verbal, written and facilitation
Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act, Municipal leadership and Municipal operations
