The City of Cold Lake is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assume the permanent, full-time position of General Manager of Infrastructure Services.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the General Manager of Infrastructure Services is accountable for providing professional leadership and direction for the installation, maintenance, and repair or upgrade of all City infrastructure, including roadways, sidewalks, water and sewer lines, water treatment plant, wastewater treatment facility, street lighting, waste management, recycling, signage, and transit services. This position provides leadership and support to the Infrastructure Service departments (engineering, transportation services, and environmental services) and management team while promoting a positive working environment for all staff members. The General Manager of Infrastructure Services also supports the CAO by providing information and knowledge to City Council members in regards to the planning, organization, and direction of transportation services, environmental services, and engineering. This position ensures that all City infrastructure is maintained in a safe and serviceable condition to meet the needs of the community.
The City of Cold Lake is looking for a candidate who possesses exceptional multitasking skills and has the ability to successfully manage multiple projects. The incumbent must be able to remain open-minded and positive. The successful candidate must be trustworthy and able to deal with confidential and/or sensitive information.
The successful candidate will have a University Degree or College Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, a P. Eng or C.E.T. professional designation, 5-10 years’ infrastructure services experience, and 5-10 years’ supervisory or management experience, including 5 years’ experience in a senior role preferably within a municipal government setting. Post-secondary education in disciplines such as business or administrative management, leadership, or human resources management, and/or National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NACLAA) is desirable. Practical knowledge and experience in computer systems for business applications, as well as knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and municipal operations are also required.
