We are currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Financial Analyst.

About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Financial Analyst is an integral part of the finance team and focuses on special projects that arise through requests from other departments, in addition to providing enhanced financial assistance and guidance in operational day-to-day activities, ensuring complex financial data is compiled, analyzed and presented in a meaningful, relevant, comprehensive and timely manner to internal users including management, City Manager, Mayor and Council.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Analyze financial information and provide findings as requested by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports, making presentations and recommendations
Analyze financial information to produce forecasts of economic conditions for use in long term strategic planning, and compare forecasts with actual results
Provide fiscal and organizational advice to representatives of assigned departments regarding projected programs and objectives according to established budgetary procedures
Assemble spreadsheets, charts and graphs to illustrate technical reports
Provide assistance to managers of Finance department with special projects and workflow process improvements
Assist with analysis to understand the true cost of service levels, inclusive of variable costs (project costing)
Assist with variance reports and investigate significant variances
Assist with quarter and year-end procedures, especially in instances when investigation or analysis is required
Utilize various computer financial information systems in the preparation of analyses, evaluation and reports
Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of developments, both internally and externally, that could affect analysis outcomes
Treasurer duties for Leduc & District Regional Waste Management Authority including preparation of quarterly operating and financial reports, collaboration with the management and Board of the Authority to prepare annual budgets, etc.
You are the successful candidate for this position if you have the following:
Accounting designation is required (CA, CMA, CGA); consideration may be given to an individual who is close to finishing the designation program with relevant work experience
Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance or public administration is an asset
5 Years experience in a computerized accounting environment
3 Years experience in a position which requires in-depth analysis of financial data
Knowledge of Great Plains and Team Budget is an asset
Intermediate to advanced Excel experience is required
Public sector accounting experience is preferred
Excellent independent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently to respond to tight timelines
Attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable team work and promote positive internal/external customer service
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
