The County of Vermilion River is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our safety-oriented team as a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst, reporting to the Finance Manager, will provide support for management planning and decision making by identifying, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating financial information and recommending actions.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Build financial database by identifying sources of information; assembling, verifying and backing up data
- Implement Diamond, Management Reporter, WorkTech and Pearl modules to enhance reporting and departmental effectiveness
- Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis
- Coordinate interdepartmentally for efficient financial analysis and reporting
- Assemble and summarize data to structure reports on financial status and risks
- Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop for forecast models
- Identify trends, and recommend actions to senior management based on sound analysis
- Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
- Consult with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making within the broadcast scope
- Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function
Requirements:
- A degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field
- Proven work experience as a Financial Analyst, Financial Specialist or related role
- Proficient in spreadsheets, database design, MS Office and financial and statistical analysis software applications such as Diamond, Management Reporter, WorkTech and Pearl
- Hands on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages
- Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Understanding of financial and accounting principles
- Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills to present and explain information and financial plans
- Equivalent education and experience will be considered
