Facility Fleet Maintenance

Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Services, Facilities and Fleet Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and care of County owned buildings, grounds and other facilities, and vehicle fleet in Yellowhead County.

Key Responsibilities

Facilites Maintenance

    • Provide the upkeep and routine maintenance of designated buildings, other facilities and grounds associated with the buildings.
    • Maintain good relations with building occupants.
    • Assist with preparing and controlling the facilities maintenance budget as required.
    • Prepare facilities and maintenance reports and submissions for the Manager of Transportation Services consideration as required.
    • Develop proposals and cost estimates for capital projects.
    • Receive and respond to complaints and special action requests. Refers or recommends further action on investigation as required.
    • Compile and maintain inventory of equipment and facilities.
    • Coordinate, arrange and supervise janitorial work.
    • Arrange and coordinate any required warranty work on facilities.
    • Assist with the coordination and arrange for facility upgrades as approved.
    • In consultation with the Manager of Transportation Services, identify which works can and will be carried out by County forces and which will be carried out by contracting.
    • Comply with the Municipal Health and Safety Progra.
    • Supervise, coordinate and inspect the County’s contracted forces.

Fleet Maintenance

    • Provide the upkeep and routine maintenance of County pool vehicles.
    • Maintain maintenance records for all County equipment and vehicles.
    • Assist with preparing and controlling the equipment and vehicle maintenance budget as required.
    • Prepare equipment and vehicle reports and submissions for the Manager of Transportation Services consideration as required.
    • Compile and maintain inventory of equipment and vehicles.
    • Arrange and coordinate any required warranty work on equipment and vehicles.

 

 

 

Requirements

Education/Skills

    • High School education
    • Computer literacy
    • Ability to prioritize and organize work requirements
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
    • Valid motor vehicle Class 5 license
    • Defensive driving
    • Standard First Aid and CPR
    • WHMIS
    • Two (2) years related experience
    • Physically capable of manual labour
    • Mechanical aptitude

Attributes

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

    • Building Operator “A” Certificate
    • Five (5) years related experience

Working Environment

    • Combination of indoor, outdoor and office environments.
    • Potential of dealing with angry and/or difficult people.
    • Physical effort required
