The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River (MD) is currently seeking a full-time Facility Maintenance Technician. Under the guidance of the Lead Facility Maintenance Technician, The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for construction projects, snow removal, inspections, and assisting with building maintenance and a various Facility Maintenance
Key Responsibilities Include:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Assist with minor maintenance and repairs in and around various Municipal facilities.
- Assist with scheduled HVAC and mechanical system inspections.
- Perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems of facilities and infrastructure.
- Perform building maintenance for all Municipal buildings are required; including but not limited to carpentry work, finishing work, cement work, roof repair, flooring, drywalling, and painting.
- Perform minor repairs on plumbing and electrical systems and appliances.
- Responsible for snow removal to permit safe access to and from parking lots and doorways for all Municipal owned and operated buildings when required.
- Maintenance and cleanup of facilities and MD owned properties.
- Assist with projects upgrade supervision
- Complete miscellaneous construction projects.
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on small equipment operations.
- Perform general labor duties as required.
- Assist in the delivery and /or redirection of freight to various locations as required.
- Respond to emergency calls to provide operational repair services as assigned. (Rotational on-call).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
- Grade 12 Diploma required
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License required
- Current clear criminal record check must be provided by the successful candidate
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Must be able to perform duties to a high degree of quality and accuracy
- Above average critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem solving
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Use and operation of a vehicle and trailer
- Ability to use common power and hand tools as required
- Effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively maintain professional relationships and communications with management, coworkers, internal customers, and the public
- Consistently demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and interactions and proactively shares pertinent information with the team.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Moderate amounts of physical effort including bending, lifting, and walking
- Extensive periods of sitting and standing
- Safe operation and use of vehicles
- Daily work in an outdoor environmental with extreme temperature conditions including heat, cold, dry, moisture, dirt, and dust
- Regular exposure to confined spaces and other potentially hazardous environments
- Occasional paid overtime and on-call assigned

- Correct Personal Protective Equipment is always required as per safe job procedures
- Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with MD polices and the laws set forth by Occupational Health & Safety Rules and Regulations
