Location: Work from home/ travel within Alberta (10 or more days/year)
The Alberta Municipal Supervisors Association (AMSA) is seeking an individual to serve as its Executive Assistant. The EA assist the Executive Director in day-to-day administrative functions and conference coordination.
This position is remote based, with occasional travel for board meetings, conferences, and zone meetings; thus, candidates must be able and willing to use their home as their office.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to AMSA’s Executive Director, the EA’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Website and Member Management
Website content and online member management and maintenance
Member long service tracking and recognition
Conference and Zone Meetings
Assist with booking location, speakers, sponsors for AMSA’s conference (Spring/Fall) and zone meetings
Conference attendance two times annually (Edmonton, AB) to ensure smooth operation
Zone meeting attendance (5 zones across Alberta – 1 to 2 times /year)
Soliciting participation from members, non-members and sponsors
Fielding, answering and forwarding queries
Accomplishing recurring and ad-hoc action and strategic items
The ideal candidate will possess some or all the following attributes:
Self-directed, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of local governments and their operations. Experience working in municipal government considered an asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic competencies of computer software (i.e., MS Office) and website maintenance.
Strong business and political acumen.
Conference or event planning experience considered an asset.
Driver's License and reliable transportation, due to travel requirements
