Assists Transportation Department with department initiatives and programs; by research, reporting and data entry.
Conduct inspections and reports to support all Transportation Programs such as gravel roads, paved roads, drainage infrastructure and subdivisions.
Conduct asset condition assessments.
Assist with road and drainage surveys.
Assist the Transportation Supervisors with contract administration and site inspections.
Create AutoCAD drawings as required.
Complete special projects and tasks as required.
Input data into the GIS system.
Assist transportation staff as required.
Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
Excellent organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to deal with confidential information.
Work well in a team setting or independently.
Ability to accurately read as-built drawings, and preferably understand municipal roadways.
Ability to operate a pickup truck on gravel roads.
Ability to understand survey principles and operate basic survey equipment.
Required to interact with County employees, citizens, contractors in an appropriate manner as guided by Sturgeon County Values.
Currently enrolled in Post-Secondary education in Engineering or another related field.
Excellent working knowledge using Microsoft Office programs.
Experience using GIS and or AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
Valid class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable 5-year commercial driver’s abstract.
Minimum Emergency First Aid certificate.
Defensive Driving course certificate or the ability to obtain prior to start date.

Rate of Pay: $20.14- $23.56 per hour Hours of Work – 35 to 37.5 hours per week – some overtime may be required
