$125,343.40 - $156,556.40 / annum

We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Full-time Director, Recreation Services for our Recreation Services Department.
About this opportunity:
The Director, Recreation Services reports to the General Manager, Community & Protective Services, and receives direction, on occasion, from the City Manager, Mayor and Council. This position provides strategic leadership and direction in the provision of recreation programs, services, and events and is the primary contact for the Leduc Recreation Center (LRC). The Director, Recreation Services works closely with internal business units, community organizations, and representatives to ensure that the most effective services, programs, policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and linked to Key Council strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensures facility utilization is maximized by balancing access to major events, community organizations, and City programming/events with individual residents
- Identifies and communicates issues related to the scheduling, operation, and maintenance of community athletic and recreation facilities to applicable areas within the city
- Creates and builds upon existing partnerships and pursues new opportunities by supporting non-profit organizations and businesses in their provision of recreation services to the community
- Develops, oversees, and provides annual operational and capital budgets, projections, and long-range forecasting for the department
- Leads the development of service level standards, performance measures and benchmarking to achieve a consistently high level of quality in the teams’ service delivery and operational procedures and practices
Requirements:
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
- Post-secondary degree in recreation administration, business administration, public administration or equivalent, or a post-secondary diploma with a similar focus complimented by working experience may be considered
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience managing a recreation facility, including related program delivery, in a progressively senior leadership role
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing a large-scale, multi-faceted facility requiring collaboration with community groups and other levels of government
- Experience with strategic and business planning processes and budget management
- Supervisory experience, exhibiting proven leadership, management, coaching and team building skills, with the ability to empower and motivate team members
- Well-developed political acumen combined with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers
- Related experience in a municipal environment is considered an asset
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
- Must be fully immunized against COVID-19 and be willing to provide proof of immunization or provide written approved exemption based on a protected ground under the Alberta Human Rights Act
