Key Responsibilities Include:
Overview: The Director of Field Services is a professional responsible for making strategic and operational decisions pertaining to all aspects of the departments: transportation, infrastructure, and utilities. The position will focus on processes and planning, problem solving, and dealing with emergent concerns. The Director of Field Services seeks approval from the Chief Administrative Officer before making decisions on issues that have significant political, legal, or financial implications for the Municipal District. As a leader, this role requires an active, engaged person who can mentor and lead a diverse team and develop positive relationships.
This role is intended to have a forward focus. The Director will participate in setting the future directions of the Municipal District by providing the CAO with strategies and recommendations with respect to core service levels, sustainability, construction initiatives, project management, new developments, and contract administration. The Director will be called upon to present briefs and recommendations to the CAO and to Council.
Competencies:The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in Management, Administration, or Engineering and have at least 10 years supervisory or management experience, preferably in a local government setting; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset. Must be well-organized, able to work with applicable legislation, possess applied knowledge, and have curiosity to seek out better ways. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, public, and elected officials is essential.
