Director of Corporate Services (Temporary)

Vulcan County is seeking an experienced and innovative leader to fill the temporary position of Director of Corporate Services, with duties to commence as soon as possible and the term to conclude in April 2022.

The position is required to work in the Vulcan County Administration Office in Vulcan, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities Include:

As the Temporary Director of Corporate Services, you will assist in leading our Corporate Services Department, including the areas of Finance, Audit, Information Technology (IT), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Corporate Services is responsible for the overall financial activities of the organization, reporting, and overseeing an annual Operating Budget of approximately $18.4 million and a capital budget of approximately $6.1 million. This position is a key member of the Senior Management Team, participating in policy development and strategic planning.

The hourly remuneration range for this position is from $57.99 to $74.70.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a graduate-level university degree in finance/accounting, or equivalent, and must have a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Extensive knowledge and experience in Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS);

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;

Leadership in implementing exemplary business operations, financial management, operating/capital budgeting, and strategic resource allocations;

Skills and knowledge in contractual agreements, risk management, and project management;

Knowledge of computerized accounting systems (experience with Great Plains, Caseware, WorkTech, and Questica software is an asset); and

In‐depth knowledge of municipal government activities, functions and governing legislation. Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) is an asset.
