Situated in the heart of central Alberta, and approximately 1 hour south east of Red Deer and 1 hour and 20 minutes north east of Calgary, Kneehill County is a progressive rural municipality comprised of 814,653 acres of land and a population of approximately 5,000. Key Responsibilities Include:
Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Community Services is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, leading, and managing the strong group of staff that make up the County’s Community Services department. There are six direct reports and a department total of sixteen permanent staff, not including seasonal summer staff. Included within the Community Services portfolio are the following departments and functions:

In addition, the Director of Community Services will also:
Deliver solid leadership, mentorship, and support to the CAO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Department Managers, and staff (both within the Community Services group, and across the organization).
Provide effective advice and support to the CAO, SLT, and Council on matters related to the Community Services department.
Liaise with key stakeholders on matters related to Community Services, while fostering effective relationships and collaboration both internally and externally….with a focus on strong customer service.
The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in a related field, with at least seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience, coupled with five to ten years of experience in a municipal setting. A Certificate in Local Government Administration (CLGM) would be an asset. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
