Working Conditions
This position works a five-day work week, Monday to Friday, within standard office hours, however, due to the nature of the portfolio there will be times when work is required outside of these typical days/hours. Sturgeon County offers a remote work environment, and this position may be eligible to participate in a Hybrid (office/remote) work model. A demanding work environment includes high volume of requests, timely decisions, overseeing or managing multiple projects, changing priorities, providing direction regarding complex or unique situations with high political sensitivity, substantial financial implications, or community well-being. Required attendance at daytime Council or committee meetings, plus some public events and industry functions which are outside and in addition to normal office hours. Travel within the Edmonton region and province of Alberta is required, with additional travel from time to time. Availability and response to inquiries outside of office hours is often required.
Job Qualifications
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years of management leadership experience at a senior level along with a post-secondary degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field supplemented with extensive management and/or leadership training.
- Enrollment or completion of the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration Program is desired, as well as membership in the Society of Local Government Managers, is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of government programs, regulations, and legislation as it related to Fire Services, Municipal Enforcement, Recreation, Culture, FCSS, Parks & Open Spaces.
- Experience in a rural municipality is an asset.
