Key Responsibilities Include:
Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available for a Development Planner I. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Development Planning, the Development Planner I is responsible for carrying out the duties of the Development Authority related to processing residential and non-residential development permit applications. This position is also responsible for processing compliance certificate requests, providing information to the County’s development customer base, and justifying decisions to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
Completion of a two (2) year diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, Architectural Technology, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution with appropriate specialization relative to the position scope is required. A university certificate in Applied Land Use Planning in combination with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience is also acceptable.
A Minimum of one year related experience, depending on the level of completed education is required.
Membership in the Alberta Development Officers Association is an asset.
A good working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act including a Methodical understanding of the Municipal Government Act pertaining to Bylaw Enforcement.
Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with the general public, and good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work within tight deadlines with consistent heavy workloads on an ongoing basis.
Well-developed computer skills for Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
Rate of Pay: $64,695 to $80,869 per annum. Hours of Work: 7 hours/day; 35 hours/week Benefits: Extensive benefits are offered including an option to join our Earned Day Off Program.
