Development Compliance Officer
Permanent, Full-Time
We are accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Development Compliance Officer to join our team. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Community and Emergency Services, this position is responsible for the enforcement of the Land Use Bylaw and other Municipal Bylaws related to planning and land use operations, with jurisdiction from the Municipal Government Act, other statutes, and regulations.
We are seeking a motivated, forward-thinking person who is ready to develop and adapt alongside the team and our rapidly growing community.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible and diversified experience related to land use compliance (preferred), and/or law enforcement.
- Completion of an Applied Land Use Certificate, or the ability to achieve this certification is required.
- Employment experience within a municipal setting will be considered an asset.
- Education and experience within law enforcement, criminal justice or policing sciences or a related field will be considered an asset.
- Prior experience in a courtroom setting would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with the public, elected officials, external stakeholders, and developers.
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, report writing, letter composition and other documentation, ability to photograph scenes and preparation of affidavits for legal counsel.
