Reporting the Facility Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for overseeing the facility custodial services in addition to assisting, as directed in the day-to-day operations of the Fleet and Facility Services Department.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Oversee the day-to-day custodian needs for the County in close cooperation with the 3rd party contractor and in collaboration with supervisor where required.
Provide coverage and or assistance when required to the Facility Services Coordinator to ensure that 3rd party contractors adhere to worksite policies and that any deficiencies or complaints are rectified.
Liaison and respond to internal inquiries related to building issues.
Assist in daily monitoring of the HVAC systems.
Assist in testing emergency lighting on monthly basis.
Assist in the maintenance of air filtration for all facilities as required.
In addition to the 3rd party contractor, maintains as needed the cleanliness of Sturgeon County Centre.
Assist in snow removal management as directed by supervisor.
Assist in the monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and alarm systems.
Responsible for the recycling needs for Sturgeon County Centre.
Assists with internal mail management as directed by the supervisor.
Purchase and pickup County supplies as required.
Assist in the organization and coordination of the relocation of office furniture and equipment.
Attends to shipments in receiving area at loading dock.
Completes other assigned duties and special projects as directed by Supervisor or Manager, Fleet & Facility Services.

Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a good working background of facility custodial requirements, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Basic computer skills are required to monitor various systems. Power Engineer certificate, experience with Microsoft programs, Angus Anywhere and Worktech/Pearl are all considered assets.
Work may be performed in extreme temperatures or high levels of noise. Physical job requirements: Require lifting and carrying of up to 75lbs, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, ladder climbing and exposure to outdoor conditions.
This position requires a valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s Class 5 license, Defensive Driving Certification and an acceptable Drivers Abstract.
Operates a variety of equipment and tools in an office and workshop environment. Your competencies include the ability to communicate effectively, work independently as well as in a team environment and the ability to prioritize work and projects. Must be self-motivated with good time management skills. A strong willingness to learn and be available after hours as required are also keys to success in this position.
Hours of Work: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday
