Crop Inspector

Key Responsibilities Include:

Parkland County has a Temporary, Full-time summer position available in the Agricultural Services Department for a Crop Inspector. You will conduct insect surveys and pest inspections as well as assist with crop production related issues. The ability to deal with the public effectively and courteously as well as the ability to identify a variety of weeds, insects and crop diseases is required.

Rate of Pay: $25.23 per hour
Hours of Work: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week (May 1 to approximately August 30, 2019)

This position is covered by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955 Collective Agreement.

Requirements:

Current enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field.

Knowledge of Weed Control and Agricultural Pest Acts are required.

Farm experience would be an asset.

Previous field scouting experience would be an asset.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.

Knowledge of computer applications and familiar with the use of GPS and GIS.
