Corporate Planning Officer
Permanent Full-Time – 35 hours per week
$81,863.60 - $102,302.20/ annum

We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Corporate Planning Officer.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, the Corporate Planning Officer leads the development and management of corporate planning, performance measurement and strategic documents. It is responsible for facilitating City of Leduc’s commitment to corporate planning and advancing performance measurement in alignment with the Corporate Business Plan. This position also manages the application of the City’s internal business intelligence software, which requires liaising with the software provider, training of staff, in addition to maintaining contact with other municipalities to keep abreast of corporate planning methodologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide corporate planning and consulting leadership by facilitating the translation of Council’s Strategic Plan to the Corporate Business Plan, including managing the integration of the Corporate Business Plan into civic operations in alignment with the budget process
- Plan and lead the development and annual review of the Corporate Business Plan and business unit Operational Plans
- Author corporate planning materials, including external and internal plans and regular progress reports
- Manage the application, training and use of the organization’s business intelligence software modules
- Facilitate the provision of educational sessions to staff on corporate planning initiatives
- Assist with the development and implementation of Council’s key performance indicators and ensure that organization-wide performance measures are aligned with corporate and strategic goals, undertaking detailed data collection and analysis to inform corporate decision-making
- Guide the development and maintenance of an integrated business planning culture, considering the inter-relationships, dependencies and collaborative relationships of key strategic and operational planning activities
- Maintain a significant understanding of all civic operational requirements and service levels, including inter-dependencies and relationships between business units, to ensure the corporate planning framework incorporates the review, evaluation and revision of service descriptions in alignment with budget deadlines
- Provide a skilled facilitation service to support the projects and/or various teams to assist in achieving expectations
Requirements:
You are the successful candidate for this position if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or other related discipline
- Certification in strategic planning and/or performance measurement
- CLGM or equivalent advanced university education in a related area considered an asset
- Certification in change management, project management data analytics, process development/evaluation, municipal leadership, public facilitation and engagement considered an asset
- 5 years of direct and progressively responsible experience in corporate planning and performance measurement systems
- 5 years’ experience in a public sector environment
- 5 years’ experience managing complex projects and work assignments
- 3 years’ experience developing and facilitating workshops and sessions
- Recent experience in change management planning and implementation
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation skills and the ability to build relationships
- Excellent internal consulting, problem-solving, analytical and systems-thinking skills
- Conversant with approaches to conducting service level reviews
- Political acumen and intuitive ability to read and interpret the political implications of recommendations and actions
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft based software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and intermediate knowledge of Visio and Project, or similar project management tools
- Experience working in Municipal government would be an asset
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check at own expense
- Must be fully immunized against COVID-19 and be willing to provide proof of immunization as part of the recruitment process
