The County of Vermilion River is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Protective Services Department in the Public Safety Division.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Public Safety Sergeant, you will be responsible for enforcing Municipal and Provincial statutes, with a key component being infrastructure protection through weights and measures enforcement. The position will also encompass rural crime prevention initiatives and community safety programming.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The work of a Peace Officer can be very demanding and stressful. The key responsibilities include: proactive and high visibility patrolling and community engagement. The successful candidate will possess the skill set needed to work alone in a large rural county with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with a dedicated dispatch centre.
We are seeking applicants who meet or exceed the minimal requirements:
Ability to immediately possess a Level 1 Peace Officer Appointment
A valid PARE certificate (or equivalent) by time of Job Offer
Class ‘5’ License with acceptable driver’s abstract
The following qualifications are an asset to the recruiting process:
Specialized training in weights and dimensions, TDG, Cargo Securement and CVE
Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
Previous law enforcement experience, preferably in a rural setting.
