Chief Administrative Officer (Interim)

Lac La Biche County has a population of over 9600 is the primary economic service center for industrial activity in northeastern Alberta. It is the municipality of choice for commercial, retail, housing and lifestyle investment in the region. The County is the gateway to the South Athabasca Oil Sands and the vast northern resources, and it is the hub of an ever-increasing transportation network including Highways 36, 55, 63 and 881; the only rail system in northeastern Alberta and an airport in a key location.

Lac La Biche offers full hospital, health and educational services, including Portage College. The community offers a variety of excellent recreational facilities with lakes and rivers for year-round outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

The Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for the overall administration of Lac La Biche County. Working closely with the Mayor and Council this position will have a significant impact on the municipality in leading the Administrative, Financial Management and Human Resources of a growing County by:

Providing effective advice and support to the Mayor and Council in developing, implementing, and executing policies and strategies, evolving governance structures, and improving the ongoing sustainability of Lac La Biche County.

Promoting opportunities for economic development and foster intermunicipal collaboration.

Providing leadership to the senior leadership team and ensuring that staff are committed and supported to providing the highest level of service through strong policy, process, and clear and transparent communication.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in relevant areas of municipal administration, together with post-secondary education (preferably with an MPA or MBA degree), CLGM designation would be an asset, and a minimum of 5 years in senior level municipal administration.

Remuneration is competitive and negotiable and will be commensurate with experience, knowledge and abilities.
