Summary

General Accountability: 

This position is responsible for inspection, recording, reporting, and recommendations of all Alberta Transportation registered bridges within the Foothills County as well as the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of traffic signage and installation and recording of traffic counts.

Specific Duties:

  • Responsible for the inspection, recording, reporting, and recommendations of all Alberta Transportation registered bridges within the County.
  • Assist in the development of specifications and bid documents for a variety of bridge structures and their maintenance requirements, related designs and full bridge replacements.
  • Responsible for the installation, recording and reporting of traffic counts.
  • Assist with sign supplies, installations and repairs, as well as GPS recording and monitoring of all traffic signs.
  • Crew supervision of bridge work when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold an Alberta Bridge inspection and training certificate.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of related experience; a Diploma in a related field would be considered an asset.
  • Must be competent in various software applications (CAD, Excel, Word, ARC View).
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association training would be considered an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • The ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Lifting, bending, and walking/standing for long periods of time.
  • Able to navigate uneven terrain for work tasks in and around bridge structures.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required.
