Assistant Parks Supervisor

We are looking for a responsible Supervisor to oversee the workflow at our Parks facilities. The role is a complex one. The successful candidate will not just be someone who supervises the work of others; the supervisor is also responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between people and work.

The ideal candidate will be a competent individual who will be able to guide and train both full time and seasonal employees. They will be well-versed in processes under the role’s responsibility and will be results-driven and focused. The goal is to ensure that parks operations are carried out productively to ensure optimum public service and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Key Duties will include:

Accountable for ensuring and providing maintenance and operational duties supporting the day-to-day facility operation of Special Areas Board parks and campgrounds

provide staff training, support, and mentorship; coordinate day-to-day activities and schedules; act as a key contact as needed

Ensure facilities are cleaned and maintained to Special Areas Board and Alberta Parks’ standards; may perform worksite duties alongside team members which includes cleaning bathrooms, shower houses, campsites, and garbage disposal

Operate power and hand tools to complete repairs and preventative maintenance tasks; oversee park grooming activities

Ensure staff adhere to all pertinent policies, procedures, and protocols, including Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS standards, campground regulations, and Special Areas policies

Lead and participate in emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation; oversee staff schedules and timesheet entries

Requirements:

Grade 12 (or an equivalent – GED)

2-5 years of parks maintenance experience preferred (a combination of education/experience will be considered

Valid Driver’s Licence

Must have good physical stamina and strength and be capable of performing demanding physical tasks and working in rain or shine weather conditions

Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and use good judgement

This is a designated safety sensitive position and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on new hires

Shift scheduling includes weekdays/rotational weekends (some evenings).

Related experience that includes supervisory or leadership experience would be an asset

Overtime work will be expected as a part of this role.

Salary Range: • Annual Salary starting at $62,584 - $75,895 depending upon experience/education
Position Type: • 8-hour workday (Monday through Sunday availability) – Overtime may be required
