Red Deer County has a permanent, full-time position for a dynamic and highly motivated
ASSESSMENT TECHNICIAN to supplement our ongoing focus in the delivery of customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assessment Services Manager, the Assessment Technician provides administrative support to the Assessment Department.
Detailed duties of the
Assessment Technician position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain accurate and updated records of, general and annual assessments, land title changes, subdivisions, Assessment Board decisions, and linear assessment changes from Alberta Municipal Affairs.
- Record and prepare correspondence and reports; organize, create, and maintain records and files; organize, create, and maintain databases; and any related record keeping and documentation for the department.
- Organize and maintain development permits within the assessment computer system (CAMALOT).
- Provide information authorized by the Assessment Services Manager or Assessors to the appropriate public or private companies, agencies, or departments.
- Provide excellent customer service and public relations via correspondence, on the phone or in person, on behalf of the organization.
- Prepare and send applicable correspondence, reports, records, and other documentation, as directed by the Assessment Services Manager.
- Cross-train with the Land Management Technician to ensure continuous coverage.
- Undertake other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as required within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
- A certificate or diploma in office administration or relate field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ administrative/office experience.
- Acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn and adapt to changing conditions.
- High degree of accuracy in work processing (MS Word), databases (MS Access), and spreadsheets (MS Excel) is essential.
- Ability to successfully communicate with various levels within the organization, as well as outside agencies.
- Ability to function effectively in a busy, deadline orientated environment.
- Valid Class 5 drivers’ license with acceptable drivers’ abstract.
- Acceptable Criminal Records Check.
- A background in municipal assessment or taxation is considered an asset.
