Key Responsibilities Include:
Reporting to the Agricultural Services Manager, this position will provide administrative support to the Agricultural Services department.
Detailed duties of the Agricultural Services Assistant position include, but are not limited to:
Provide clerical and administrative services to the Agricultural Services department including but not limited to: receiving, recording, and preparing correspondence and reports; organizing, creating, and maintaining records and files; organizing, creating, and maintaining databases; and organizing, creating, and maintaining any related record keeping and documentation.
Provide excellent customer service and public relations on behalf of the department and County.
Provide information to the public, private companies, agencies, and departments.
Update and administer agricultural content on the Red Deer County website.
Assist with the development of promotional materials for the department.
Undertake other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as required within the scope of the position.
Completion of a post-secondary office administration certificate or diploma program plus a minimum of three (3) years of office administration experience. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to learn and adapt to changing conditions.
High degree of accuracy in work processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), as well as data-entry experience is essential.
Ability to function effectively in a busy, deadline orientated environment.
Acceptable Criminal Records Check.
Experience with MS Publisher is considered an asset.
A background in Agriculture is considered an asset.
Experience in a local government environment is also considered an asset.
