- Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors, co-workers and the public.
- Familiarity with the Alberta Township Survey (ATS) System.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and to prepare written reports.
- Knowledge of pesticides, agronomic practices, and an agricultural background would be an asset.
- Ability to identify noxious and prohibited noxious weed species, and common agricultural pests.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Completion of some post-secondary studies in agriculture, environmental sciences or a related field.
- A current Industrial Pesticide Applicator certification or Authorized Assistant certification (or the ability to obtain).
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Standard First-Aid (or the ability to obtain).
- Defensive Driving certificate (or the ability to obtain).
- Ability to wear a half mask with organic carbon filters when handling herbicides, and completion of a Respiratory User Screening Form as per CSA Z94.4-11.
- Ability to perform medium lifting of 25 kilograms.
- Experience driving a pickup on gravel roads would be considered an asset.
Hours of Work:
May 3 – May 14, 2021, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
May 17 – August 20, 2021, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (These hours may be subject to change).
