County of Barrhead Agricultural Services Department is seeking to fill the role of Crew Supervisor. Position term is April to September 2022.
Reporting to the Agricultural Fieldman, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the operations of the Agricultural Department seasonal staff, conducting weed control programs within the County of Barrhead, including weed inspection on private land. Other duties include assisting with the delivery of the Agricultural Services shelterbelt tree program and conservation projects, service and maintenance of equipment, and agricultural pest monitoring.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Operate herbicide application equipment to control weeds on municipal road allowances, park reserves, and so forth.
Apply herbicides in accordance with all relevant legislation.
Perform mechanical and manual weed control work.
Actively participate in the County of Barrhead Health and Safety Management System.
Perform other related duties as required.
Additional Job Information:
Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

Applicants with experience in a supervisory role will be preferred.
Experience with weed control and pesticides is considered an asset.
Good communication skills as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
A pesticide applicators license and basic weed/plant identification would be considered an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a team and effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
Applicants MUST possess a valid class 5 driver's license.
Experience operating ATVs/UTVs and/or towing trailers with a pickup.
Successful applicants will receive the training necessary for the positions.
