Athabasca County is currently accepting applications for a full time, permanent Accounts Receivable / Utilities / Purchasing Clerk.
Under the direction from the Director of Corporate Services, the Accounts Receivable / Utilities / Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for the billing of monthly utilities, preparation of accounts receivable invoicing, purchasing of general office supplies, along with providing back up support to other positions within the department.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Under direction from the Director of Corporate Services, the duties of the position will include the following:
Provide friendly, professional service to the public answering inquiries and assisting with their accounts
Invoicing including preparing the monthly billings for all County of Athabasca Utility accounts, department invoices for services, interdepartmental payments.
Setup new utility accounts and field inquiries from the public regarding deposits, billings, payments, etc.
Follow up on unpaid invoices and/or accounts that are in arrears and initiate collections as directed by the department supervisor.
Prepare daily bank deposits, required cash sheets, and post reports to the General Ledger.
Assisting reception with the public at the front counter; accepting payments, processing cash receipts, answering phones, preparing the daily mail, greeting the public, and directing inquiries to the proper departments.
Ensure that the financial information and/or filing for the Accounts Receivable / Cash Receipts department is properly retained and organized in accordance with the County’s records retention guidelines.
Responsible for purchasing general office supplies and coffee supplies for all departments.
Provide backup to the Tax & Assessment Officer; fielding calls, answering inquiries, and providing general assistance.
Assist other County Departments as required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in an office environment and/or formal office-related training / education
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
The salary range for this position is currently $56,330 - $65,895. Athabasca County offers an attractive benefit package and contributes to the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
