Lethbridge County is looking for an organized, efficient and motivated Accounts Payable Clerk. Accounts Payable is a vital link of the accounting system. Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Clerk performs all accounts payable responsibilities. Additional job functions include customer service, reception, utility coverage and other related duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares invoices for payment, verifies information and authorization and ensures they are coded and signed off as required.
- Responsible for weekly cheque runs.
- Handles inquiries about outstanding invoices to the purchaser, suppliers or Controller.
- Reviews all payable records, such as cell phone and utility billings to ensure accuracy and compliance with County policy.
- Processes Visa payments.
- Supports the Controller in various financial tasks and assignments as required.
- Will act as treasurer for the Lethbridge Regional Water and Waste Commissions.
- Prepares the monthly GST remittances as assigned by the Controller.
- Assists with gathering and compiles information for the annual reports.
- Performs other duties related to the position as required or assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- A post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, other suitable equivalencies may be considered.
- 2 years of accounts payable experience.
- Strong computer skills; experienced in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy is extremely important.
- Must be able to work in a high-volume environment and be able to prioritize to meet deadlines
- Accountable, proven integrity and the ability to keep information confidential.
- Strong customer relations skills as this position deals with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and residents.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
- Must be bondable.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Lethbridge County offers a competitive salary, full benefit package and a defined benefit pension plan. This position will work out of the Lethbridge County Administration Building. The standard work week is Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
