- Must have a minimum of a Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing. A Class 3 Driver’s License with Q or Class 1 may be required depending on positions available. A 5-year driver’s abstract will be required to ensure compliance with County Policy.
- Minimum grade 12 High School Education, GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent.
- Positions in Public Works department: preference will be given to candidates with previous equipment operation experience in areas including road or general construction, gravelling, oiling, patching, bridge repair and dust control.
- Positions in Agriculture Services department: preference will be given to candidates with experience operating tractors, mowers and other related farm equipment. Experience with maintenance and repairs is an asset. These positions can be a great fit for students or semi-retired farmers.
- Must have experience and knowledge in the operation of various light equipment including hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Physically fit and able to lift loads of up to 50 kg.
- Flagging and additional safety training is considered an asset.
- Must be adaptable to worksites that include a high level of dust, grease, mud or noise and outdoor temperatures that vary from hot to cold.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other staff members, supervisors and the general public.
- Ability to identify, assess and report existing or potential health and safety hazards.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is required for all County positions.
Working Conditions:
These positions will work 9-hour days Monday through Thursday (7:00am - 4:30pm) and 8 hours on Friday (7:00am - 3:30pm) out of our Picture Butte Shop. Positions may be subject to overtime in order to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
