Key Responsibilities Include:
Website / Intranet
- Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading an aesthetic, functional, and user-friendly website.
- Evaluating code to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid, is properly structured, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems.
- Collecting and analyzing web analytics and similar data; identifying opportunities to improve search engine optimization (SEO), time on site, web traffic, and other relevant metrics.
- Liaising with Information Technology experts to evaluate, develop, and implement appropriate technologies and media enhancements to the website.
- Preparing a long-term plan for website development and presence including standards and guidelines for content, based on organizational goals and input from stakeholders.
- Ensuring full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
- Partnering with the County Information Technology team to ensure website security and data protection is in place and participating in a joint response to potential website security breaches.
Strategic Communication
- Assisting in the planning, developing, and implementing of internal and external communications strategies to effectively promote the goals, objectives, and accomplishments of key initiatives undertaken throughout the County.
- Conferring with teams to resolve identified concerns, prioritize needs, develop content criteria, and/or choose solutions.
- Assisting with content review, preparation, editing and rewriting to ensure consistent message and standards.
General
- Maintaining an understanding of best practices and emerging developments in web design, web development, and technology through education, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and groups.
- Participating as required in the County’s emergency response plans as a member of the Public Information Officer team.
Requirements:
Completion of bachelor’s degree in a related field along with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible and diversified experience in a variety of web technologies, protocols, and tools.
- Extensive knowledge of website management, analytics, design, and SEO best practices and standards.
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in SharePoint Online, Adobe Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency with XML/XSLT, SQL, JavaScript, or other programming languages is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
