Media, Social Media and Digital Communications Associate

We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full time Media, Social Media and Digital Communications Associate in our Communications and Marketing Advisory Services (CMS) team
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to Manager, Communications and Marketing Advisory Services, the Media, Social Media and Digital Communications Associate manages CMS communications channels, provides up-to-date progress, tracks issues and identifies opportunities for enhancing the reputation of the City of Leduc. Acting as an analyst, this position supports CMS in producing strategic foresight and business intelligence reports. Working with the rest of the CMS team members, this position elevates the service of CMS to internal and external partners and contributes to advancing the Communications and Marketing Strategic Plan, City’s Strategic Plan, Corporate Business Plan and a one-City culture.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Contribute to building the City’s social media strategy, standards and practice, elevating the City's efforts in social media and other digital platforms
- Coordinate information on web and social media platforms and manage the City’s internal and external websites, including coordinating with internal and external partners to keep content current
- Manage media relations by acting as the point-of-contact for media, coordinating media inquiries and managing media contacts
- Maintain an awareness of the political, economic, social, cultural and technological climate and offer recommendations for decision-making and planning activities
- Support CMS influencer and advocacy programs by monitoring and tracking movers and shakers in the region, province and country
- Monitor and identify trending topics and opportunities over media, social media and other digital platforms; identify opportunities and recommend topics for digital content that elevates the local, regional and global reputation of the City of Leduc
- Proactively track, compile, and analyze data on business intelligence from both internal and external environments
- Prepare updates and reports that measure progress and analyze results of CMS initiatives and marketing campaigns while also supporting and enhancing strategic development and service delivery
- Recommend opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of the City’s communications channels
- Support building an open, transparent, collaborative and positive working environment that is reflective of the City’s values
Requirements:
You are the successful candidate for this position if you have the following:
- Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, public administration, political science or a related discipline
- A minimum of 2 years of communications, marketing, public relations or strategic planning experience, including experience in media relations, digital communications, public and stakeholder relations, business and communications analytics, list and contact management
- Experience working in a consulting firm or a municipal environment and/or government body is an asset
- Knowledge of the latest communications and marketing trends and technologies
- Digital marketing expertise, and current knowledge of current social media platforms and website content management systems
- Experience managing a corporate website and professional social media accounts
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment exercising tact, diplomacy, discretion and professionalism while managing and responding to diverse and multiple requests
- Excellent ability to effectively multitask and manage competing timelines and priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent research, report writing and presentation skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and website content management systems
- A proven commitment to customer service
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers
- Must be willing to provide a current Criminal Records Check
