Education:
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- Degree or diploma from postsecondary institution in a Parks related field would be an asset
- Standard First Aid and AED
- Valid Class 3 driver’s license with Q endorsement; a current abstract will be required
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years related experience or equivalent work history in all aspects of Parks Operations
- Experience with parks, turf and tree maintenance, snow removal and outdoor ice maintenance
- Dealing with a variety of people, programs and procedures
- Previous supervisor experience an asset
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Possess the knowledge and ability to operate various equipment utilized for Parks operations
- Possess strong general maintenance skills of equipment and tools associated with daily Parks operations
- Strong background and working knowledge of WHMIS, OH & S Standards would be an asset
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize changing workloads efficiently
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to coordinate and plan activities
- Possess superior interpersonal, public relations and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends and stand-by, as required
Working Conditions:
This position involves working outdoors and standing and walking throughout the day and frequently working in inclement weather. May be exposed to hazardous substances and noises, however protective gear is provided. Must have the ability to continuously use hand tools and lift heavy objects.
