Gas Distribution Engineering Technologist IV
The City of Medicine Hat Utility Distribution System works every day to meet the energy needs of our 26,000 customers safely, reliably and affordably. We have an exciting opportunity for a Gas Distribution Engineering Technologist who will work as part of a team that is responsible for the design, drafting, coordination, installation, inspection, and testing of gas distribution pipelines, stations and customer meters. This position is responsible for performing SynerGEE (gas flow modeling) simulations to determine future plant reinforcement, drafting the designs in AutoCAD and Cadworx as well as ensuring that all safety and quality standards are met by contractors during field construction as the Project Inspector.

Key Responsibilities Include:
To succeed in this role, you will bring thorough knowledge of the practices, regulatory codes, materials, equipment and procedures in natural gas distribution engineering, along with strong project management skills to execute multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency using AutoCAD, ArcGlS and Trimble GPS software is considered an asset!
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a two year diploma in Mechanical or Civil Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Registered member of Alberta Society Engineering Technologists (ASET) within six months of taking on the position, and while in this position maintain registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Technician (C. Tech).
- Nine (9) years of relevant gas distribution work experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Vehicle Operator's License and City Operator's License.
- An equivalent combination of management approved training, education and experience may be considered.
This position has also been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
