The Town of Athabasca is a vibrant rural community in which to live, work and relax. Located in the picturesque Athabasca River valley, just 150 km north of Edmonton on Highway 2, Athabasca has a population of 2965 people and is growing. The Town is home to Athabasca University as well as three public schools providing education from kindergarten to Grade 12. The Municipal Energy Manager (MEM) is a regional position based in the Town of Athabasca. This position is responsible for energy management planning, tracking energy use, and leading energy-saving projects towards a more energy-efficient work culture. The MEM will also identify and prioritize energy-saving opportunities, distribute and share knowledge with senior municipal leaders, and complete regular reporting on their progress and achievements among other activities.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Municipal Energy Manager position is a temporary, full-time minimum one (1) year term contract with the opportunity to complete a second term if the first year’s requirements are completed. The position is partially funded through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) Municipal Energy Manager (MEM) Program.
