Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum High School diploma; some post-secondary in a human service field is an asset; related early childhood development field is preferred
- Experience working with young children and families
- Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating programs is an asset
- Child Care First Aid certification is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a manner that facilitates decision making and collaboration
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, colleagues, community stakeholders and service providers
- General understanding of brain science, normative child development, adverse early childhood experiences (ACES), ecological perspectives and importance of play in growth and development
- Ability to listen and convey messages in a manner that contributes to clarity and shared understanding
- Broad based knowledge of community resources
Conditions of Employment
- Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evenings and weekends
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties including lifting 22.5 kg (50 lbs)
